For 47 years, you were the guests of the Spang family in the peaceful countryside of Kennebunkport, Maine.
It is with a very heavy heart and a deep sadness that we announce… all good things must come to an end. As many of you know, our parents opened Salty Acres Campground 47 years ago. They offered the joy of family camping in a beautiful, natural, rustic Maine setting. Through the years, our family has worked hard to carry on the original dream, making improvements along the way, but always staying as true to the dream as possible.
We’ve been blessed with the patronage of many families from many different areas of the country, and even the world. Some families have spanned the generations right along with us. We’re so thankful to everyone!
As the years have come and gone, many changes have taken place in life, as well as in our family. This was the most strenuous decision yet, but a collective decision has been made to close the campground.
Unfortunately, there will be no more pre-season race to see who will get the beloved Site 172. And no more delightful anticipation of your Reservation Confirmation so you can plan ahead as to which Site # your family and friends will gather in.
We do hope that you, your families and your friends have wonderful memories of your time spent at Salty Acres Campground. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for choosing Salty Acres Campground as your summer retreat!
Our campground has seen several generations of families grow
up, as some of our original guests enjoyed returning year
after year with their children and grandchildren.
